What is it about?

It is about how library managers in Sri Lanka are conducting succession planning in their academic libraries. The Managers' leadership styles are examined to see if this style influences their succession planning activities.

Why is it important?

Succession planning is important to ensure continuity of the strategic directions of the library and the importance of staff development and competency training. Library managers' leadership style is found to be related to their belief in carrying out a succession plan.

Perspectives

This work is contributed by a student from Sri Lanka who was passionate about the managerial styles of Sri Lankan University library managers. The qualitative data gathered from interviews provided valuable insight to the leadership and management styles of Sri Lankan library managers. The method used to analyse and interpret the qualitative data was challenging yet valuable.
