What is it about?

Safeguarding measures to ensure the long term sustainability of knowledge linked with the cultural heritage is to be ensured. Recreations of the socio-cultural life and traditions of all the UNESCO listed inheritance can also enhance the cultural experience. In India, even though regional level conservation efforts are occurring, no comprehensive information system which gives the whole perspective of the item or environment of heritage site, has been developed for the heritage sites recognized by UNESCO in its World Heritage list from India. Developing such a comprehensive digital archive for cultural heritage helps to showcase its assets and ensures its visibility globally without hampering the physical form. Application ICT and digital technologies can extensively be used coupled with mechanisms like mobile devices, digital systems, and content visualization techniques to support the efficient and effective management in a systemized way.
