What is it about?

If your academic institution - K-12 or higher ed - has access to Google Classroom, it provides an excellent platform for providing library and research instruction to students not in a formal class. It also allows librarians to reach students without getting immersed in details that are more specific to a course's content, and less about research and information seeking.

Why is it important?

This is one of the first papers about Google Classroom and it's potential use in libraries.

Perspectives

My colleague and I have been able to use Google Classroom with full-semester undergraduate courses as well as one-time research sessions, with very good success. Google Classroom continues to add features that enhance our reach and make planning and assessment in flipped and traditional classes smoother.
