Health information systems offer a stable foundation for enhancing efficacy; however, these systems have been remarkably diverse within the country.

This study presented the intricate nature of the enduring impact of fragmentation in South Africa's health information systems and examined three key elements concerning terminology and maturity models that ought to be taken into account when formulating the country's forthcoming eHealth Strategy.
