What is it about?

An empirical investigation of the impact of culture on managerial discretion in a sample of Arabic countries. We have shown for the first time that cultural practices are important antecedents of managerial discretion which have a direct effect on CEOs latitude of actions. Limited studies have considered the national dimension of managerial discretion and even the ones that did investigate this dimension only focused on cultural values in developed countries.

Why is it important?

We validate earlier findings in relation to the impact of culture on managerial discretion and we extend the national level dimension by introducing new national-level antecedents. Also, we investigate managerial discretion in a totally new context, the Arab world.
