Why is it important?

It is important to entrepreneurs to understand that you have to share information, explain your assistance needs, initiate and invite dialogue; in short, co-produce business advice. Learning in this context is a two-way affair. Investing time and energy in relationships is important for learning in this context.

Perspectives

To me, the story of how the young enterprise and the incubator manager found out the learning needs of the firm as they went along is a fascinating practical example of dealing with Meno's paradox (in short: seraching for known knowledge is unescessary and searching for unknown knowledge is impossible). My personal account is that in practice we are capable of searching for knowledge we don't yet have, partly because of social forces.
