What is it about?

Leaders everyday actions matter. We show how leaders everyday actions make a difference tor teachers' willingness to take risks in new learning. when leaders show support through building supportive relationships, seeing teachers as a learners, showing empathy and respect, providing support and engendering trust teachers were more willing to take risks to learn.

Why is it important?

New learning requires risk taking and the context is key. The quality of relationships combined with teachers' knowledge influenced their perceptions of risk and learning. Leaders are reminded that learning is inherently uncertain and uncomfortable and that they have an important role to ensure an environment that is safe and supportive for teacher risk taking and change.
