What is it about?

Our study includes teams from four different countries and examines the link between team temporal constructs and team satisfaction. We test this relationship using a multiple mediation model of shared temporal cognition (STC), temporal conflict (TC), action processes, and team satisfaction.

Why is it important?

Our results demonstrate the need for teams to be conscious of time and its relationship to team interaction and satisfaction. Specifically, we advise team leaders and members to acknowledge: 1) the importance of shared temporal cognition (STC) within their teams, 2) the need for temporal awareness and STC in collaborative endeavors, and 3) the need to utilize team processes to minimize conflict and assist in the effective use of shared cognition. This study provides new theoretical and empirical insight into a multiple mediation model including STC, TC, action processes, and team satisfaction. The size and multi-cultural nature of the sample also enhance the generalizability of the findings.

Perspectives

This was a wonderful collaborative effort among colleagues from four different countries. I really enjoyed the chance to work with researchers from so many cultures and appreciated the opportunity to do international research.
