What is it about?
This study investigated how mental health literacy (MHL) relates to resilience. We looked at people who got therapy and those who didn't. Our group had 256 people from Israeli-Arab and Israeli-Jewish backgrounds. Findings indicated that people in therapy had more MHL and resilience than those not in therapy. Knowing about mental health issues was linked to better resilience, no matter the person's background or therapy. For therapy participants, MHL was linked to more resilience, while for non-participants, it was linked to less resilience. If someone didn't do therapy, being close to mental health patients related to less resilience, but this wasn't seen for therapy-goers. This means that while knowing about mental health is important it is not enough if it is not accompanied by proper therapy.
