Applying a racial lens to measures of school safety to examine Black youth perceptions and outcomes

What is it about?

Discourse about school safety assumes a universal understanding and experience of what it means to be safe. This study shows that assessing the safety of Black youth requires a more comprehensive understanding of safety that considers the impact of racism.
