What is it about?

Senior healthcare executives’ perspectives of large-scale health systems changes form the foundational components for an integrated health system within which integrated care is delivered. We demonstrate how senior executives’ four distinct perspectives (systems, institutional, clinical, and governance) of large-scale health systems changes, when combined, form a research-based model for the development of an integrated health system in the broadest sense.

Why is it important?

This paper conveys results of personal interviews with senior healthcare executives and presents a proposed model for an integrated health system based on their four distinct perspectives of a health system.

Perspectives

The challenge for the Ontario healthcare system is to develop a comprehensive definition of large-scale health systems changes that encompasses the four distinct perspectives, expressed by senior executives, to act as a foundation on which to further the evolution of healthcare reform in Ontario.
