What is it about?
The paper investigates the possible impacts of COVID-19 pandemic on Islamic banks in Bangladesh. In so doing, the paper draws upon the Marxian tradition on merchant's capital. The paper shows that the financing pattern of Islamic banks conforms to the marxian prediction of merchant capital. Such a pattern may entail that Islamic banks are likely to be affected more than their conventional counterparts. To mitigate the possible impacts of the pandemic, a concerted effort from bank managers, national government, and international development organizations is essential.
