What is it about?
By adopting an extended version of the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology 2 (UTAUT2) framework, this study aimed to investigate factors affecting travelers' intention to use a new type of travel-focused mobile application named travel-tracking mobile applications (TTMA). In this regard, the impacts of performance expectancy, effort expectancy, facilitating condition, hedonic motivation, trust and system privacy concerns on travelers’ TTMA usage intentions. More specifically, data collected from mobile app users who traveled for leisure purposes at least once in the last two years demonstrated that performance expectancy, effort expectancy, hedonic motivation, and trust positively; and system privacy negatively influenced travelers’ ' intention to adopt TTMA. The current study findings add to the body of knowledge in the field of travel technology acceptance, and provide practical implications, especially for entrepreneurs and tourism technology vendors.
