Why is it important?

There is little on the negative effects of Lean in terms of its use in healthcare. Thus the paper explores this issue and poses the question: why for some does Lean improve their work and morale and for others it intensifies work and stress.

Perspectives

When I was conducting research for my masters degree studying the implementation of Lean in healthcare, it struck me that for some Lean was beneficial but others had far different experiences. This led me to review my data and look for other research on Lean´s negative effects and how and if they can be ameliorated. The upshot is this paper deigned to start a conversation about the topic and to encourage researchers to look deeper into the social and work effects of Lean in healthcare.
