What is it about?
At present in most universites in SSA and world, some services are often outsourced from various departments within universities. This paper succinctly investigated factors that influence decision to outsource some services in the unversity system, soliciting opinion of desginated departments that are involved in facilities management such as soft,hard facilities,mechanical, electrical facilities, human resource facilities, space maintenance, cleaning and horticulture, securities etc. It provides an insight on the choice of either "doing it by self" or "contract it out".

The identified factors help in decision making in respect of every facility in the system. Having known that the functionality and effectiveness of system contributes a great deal to academic perfomance and research output. Data were sourced from those who have been involved in the selected Nigerian Universities.
Perspectives
Without efficient services and facilities, a system tends to collapse. The need to outsource some facilities management services is imperative. In Nigeria and sub-sahara African countries, what are the factors that influence or determine decision to outsource by the desginated departments/ sections within universities. This becomes improtant as facilities and infrastructure in Universities are loosing the faces of newness and performance.
