What is it about?

Almost all mobile phone users suffer from Nomophobia to varying degrees which induces them to impulsively use mobile phones. At workplace, the use of mobile phone can adversely affect job performance as found by many studies. However, the mechanisms that caused degradation of performance have not been explores. Most of the studies have used self-report methods of data collection tried to link different excessive use of mobile phones with health, wellbeing, depression, isolation, and job performance. No study investigated the psychological discrepancies generated by excessive use of mobile phone (induced by Nomophobia) which affected job performance. Similarly, the regulatory policies adopted by organizations to deal with excessive use of mobile phone were found lacking rationality. This study uncovered the five mechanisms through which job performance was affected by Nomophobia induced impulsive use of mobile phone. Based on the rationality of identified mechanisms, this study has suggested various recommendations for organization to deal with Nomophobia induced excessive use of mobile phone.
