What factors mediate the relationship between principal leadership and teacher professional learning? Evidence from meta-analytic structural equation modelling (MASEM)

What is it about?

This study was conducted to investigate the effect of principal leadership on teacher professional learning with the possible mediation of teacher trust and teacher agency using a broader set of data collected from published research. The results showed that principal leadership had a significant and ‘very large’ effect on teacher professional learning, teacher trust and agency; principal leadership affected teacher professional learning mostly indirectly over teacher trust and agency. Teacher trust and agency collectively predicted nearly half of the variance in teacher professional learning.
