Temporal bias in historical newspaper digitisation: evidence from reconstructing the British mandate trademark registry

What is it about?

We developed computer tools to automatically extract trademark images and text from century-old newspaper scans from British-controlled Palestine, helping to rebuild a lost business registry that reveals the commercial life of the region between 1917-1948.
