It helps to understand how social identity of a person can help or hinder in access and utilisation of a government programmes even though it is universal for all.

Perspectives

In India people are excluded from accessing the resources not because they did not have the required skill or capacity, but on the basis of their caste and religion identity. Though it is an ascribed status, it helps the people to have more opportunities than their achieved status.
