What is it about?

This research is an attempt to determine the extent to which the concept ‘sustainability’ is incorporated in the curriculum of a tertiary education programme in Ghana, and also ascertain the nature of sustainability issues addressed by the curriculum. A review of relevant documents suggests a low presence of sustainability in the curriculum studied; greater emphasis was on issues related to the social dimension of sustainability, whilst issues of economic featured least in the curriculum.

Why is it important?

This article is important because it one of the few extant literature which features higher education sustainability issues from developing countries’ context, as it brings into perspective the place of sustainability in Ghanaian higher education curriculum. This has implication for sustainability education in Ghana and other developing countries, and also the pursuit of sustainable development objectives in general.

Perspectives

This is a carefully and meticulously researched work. It is an objective presentation of sustainability issues captured in the curriculum of Ghana's higher national diploma (HND) Purchasing and Supply Management programme. It can be relied on as a credible, authentic and factual study.
