What is it about?
We studied successful examples of collaboration and outlined eight different ways that nonprofits combine their efforts, ranging from affiliated programming to shared administrative operations to full-on mergers.

Why is it important?
Organizations are often hesitant to work deeply with other organizations because they have to give up some of their autonomy. However, collaboration is clearly a key for some organizations in righting the ship, saving money, or extending their programming.
Perspectives
The cases from this study are applicants for a national collaboration award, so the focus is on the successful, thriving cases of collaboration between two or more nonprofits. With concrete cases and our array of options, nonprofits staffs and boards can plot their options for working deeply with other organizations.
