What is it about?
The lean approaches have made their contribution to key manufacturing situations. The analysis of lean supply chain and lean warehousing is now urgently needed in complicated pharmaceutical environments.

Why is it important?
Though many core manufacturing scenarios have been dealt with lean tools and lean practices, applying Value Stream Mapping (VSM) in a warehouse supply chain scenario was a daunting task. Neither the VSM parameters are same like the traditional VSM nor constructing a VSM is easier for a warehouse supply chain with longer timeline. The future directions suggested in the study also has strong implications that can increase the efficiency of a pharmaceutical warehouse.
Perspectives
Though a lot of inventory models and algorithms come into play in a production environment, the random shop floor operations especially in Warehouses goes undetectable and unavoidable that leads to heavy lead time build up. A strong dynamic visualization of these operations are the need of the hour and supply chain based value stream mapping can be a starting point to eradicate this real time ahop floor problem.
