What is it about?
Persons living with HIV who are reentering the community after leaving a correctional facility may face heightened challenges linking to HIV care in the community. In our analysis, in-facility, pre-release, HIV-related rehabilitation program attendance was not significantly associated with linkage to community-based HIV care in South Africa post-release. However, peer-based HIV rehabilitation programs have shown benefits in other areas and may be an existing avenue to further assess for opportunities to support persons living with HIV as they reenter communities and link to HIV care.
