What is it about?

This paper reviews literature in the domain of manufacturing strategy published over last 50 years. By doing so, it identifies the major and minor themes that have been studied and publication trends therein. Research gaps are identified in terms of underexplored themes and future research directions are provided.

This paper is a systematic analysis of the manufacturing strategy literature and provides a number of research gaps that are relevant on many accounts e.g. research communities in developing and developed countries, major and minor themes that are underexplored, and research methods that are relatively underutilized.
