What is it about?
This paper considers which forms of smoking cessation support are preferred among people who experience incarceration, a population with one of the highest rates of tobacco use. Using survey data from individuals on parole we found that implementing preferred peer support cessation programs and encouraging NRT use post-release should be a priority area to improve the health of this vulnerable population. To our knowledge, no previous studies have explored preferences for cessation support among this population, internationally. Furthermore, our paper is novel in its cross-disciplinary analysis and content.
