What is it about?

Tuberculosis (TB) is one of the deadliest infectious diseases worldwide, with Pakistan amongst the top-five countries with TB. Mantoux Tuberculin Skin Test (TST) is an internationally recognised invasive procedure to identify and isolate Latent Tuberculosis Infection (LTBI) and control TB. We tested male prisoners of Central Prison Rawalpindi using TST, and calculated the prevalence of LTBI. This research finds that LTBI spread across the prison population is caused by overcrowding.
