What is it about?
The US-China trade war has cast a huge shadow over global business. Surprisingly, most management scholars have stayed away from this conflict in their research. We briefly review the trade war, explore its causes from a political economy perspective, and explain how these causes are shaping new topics in research. Compiling facts, we build our case that the CCP runs China as a corporation. The interplay between China and other countries is essentially a competition between a huge corporation and other states. The emergence of China, Inc. requires us to update firm theory and institutional theory, and to reexamine global competition.
