What is it about?
Defined in terms of EU-style institutionalisation’ ECOWAS is one of the modes of regionalism classified as failed. The organisation has struggled with Member-states internal crisis, inter-state border crisis, a growing army of unemployed youths, high political-instability, militant terrorism, cybersecurity and farmers-herders conflict. Also, it has a poor implementation of treaties and poor cultural communications.

Perspectives
We scrutinize a public-sector organisation – the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) administration, treaties and policies. We contend the organization is struggling with copying western model of regional integration and has poor implementation of treaties and promotion of economic policies. Also, we maintain that ECOWAS institutional changes have been too slow or insufficient to bring about radical transformation. The organization has struggled with the member-states internal crisis, inter-state border crisis, a growing army of unemployed youths, high political-instability, militant terrorism, cybersecurity and farmers-herders conflict.
