What is it about?

This model looks to overcome some of the shortcomings identified in the traditional theoretical foundations of Project Management, by developing a novel perspective on project management. This new model is developed from direct engagement with project management practitioners and a broad theoretical base.

Why is it important?

This model responds to the calls from within industry and academia for new perspectives on project management that can help us understand the non-linear, non-sequential nature of larger projects. These new perspectives encourage practitioners and academics to look beyond traditional frameworks, systems and tools that may further assist the development of the profession.

Perspectives

The intention of this paper was to challenge project management practitioners to 'think outside the box'. The model itself is developed to provide a representation of the actual experience of managing a construction project. We did not expect the research to produce new project management tools, at this stage, however it is hoped that by seeing the experience of project management from a new perspective it may prompt new ideas for improving our profession
