What is it about?

This research explores how projects organize our experience of time in organizations. When we work in projects, they create specific ways of understanding and using time - with deadlines, milestones, and schedules that shape how we work together. The article examines how this project-based approach to time affects organizations and people, highlighting the social nature of time management and how project frameworks influence our perception of what's urgent, important, or achievable in our working lives.

Why is it important?

For science, this work bridges critical gaps between project management theory and time studies, offering new perspectives on how organizational activities are temporally structured and accomplished through micro-practices. For practice, it helps project managers understand how their methods don't just track time but actually shape it. By recognizing how project frameworks construct temporal experiences, practitioners can make more conscious choices about scheduling, prioritization, and resource allocation, potentially reducing time pressure while improving outcomes and team experiences.
