Gender gaps and the economic crisis in Greece

This paper studies the ways that different types of gender gaps have evolved in Greece during the crisis.

Why is it important?

This paper studies a period of unprecedent economic crisis and provides insights in regards to the ways it has affected gender inequality in the labour market. It does so by constructing a composite index and utilising microdata. What we show is that we are witnessing a race to the bottom, with gender gaps closing due to a more rapid worsening of employment conditions for men compared to women.
