What is it about?
There are two complimentary duties involved in corporate social responsibility (CSR). These two duties work together and must be present for CSR to be effective. The paper explores the effect of the two duties on oil host communities in Nigeria.

Why is it important?
The paper was able to delineate the two duties that make CSR complete; the positive affirmative duties and the negative injunctive duties. It argues that the absence of the negative duties is what is causing the unrest in the Niger Delta region of Nigeria.
Perspectives
This work shows that contemporary practices of CSR in Nigerian is not adequate. It is my belief that if corporations follow the prescriptions in the work, the unrest in the Niger Delta will be reduced, if not eliminated.
