What is it about?

The study investigates the effect of big data analytics capabilities on reverse logistics decisions and remanufacturing performance. The primary data was collected using a structured questionnaire and online survey from South African manufacturing companies; and further the data was analysed using WarpPLS 6.0 software. Results indicate that data generation capabilities have a strong association with strategic reverse logistics decisions. Data integration and management capabilities show a positive association with tactical reverse logistics decisions. Advanced analytics capabilities, data visualization capabilities and data driven culture show a positive association with both strategic reverse logistics decisions and tactical reverse logistics decisions. Strategic reverse logistics decisions and tactical reverse logistics decisions was found to have a positive link with remanufacturing performance. The theoretical guided results can help managers to understand the value of big data analytics in making better quality of reverse logistics judgment and enhance remanufacturing process for achieving sustainable development goals. This research work attempted to explore the relationship between big data analytics, reverse logistics decisions and remanufacturing performance. The study is practice oriented and according to our knowledge is the first study to conduct in context to South Africa
