What is it about?
This study shows how different aspects of a country’s regulatory environment influence whether people start businesses out of opportunity or necessity. It finds that highly educated individuals are more likely to pursue opportunity-driven entrepreneurship when labour and monetary freedoms are strong, while business freedom tends to discourage opportunity-driven entrepreneurship among those with lower levels of education. By examining these nuanced relationships, the research provides fresh insights into how institutions shape entrepreneurial motivations.
