Why is it important?

Nurturing the successor effectively could be so important since a competent successor would be critical for the continuity of a family firm. To be successful in nurturing the successor the predecessor should already possess the required competencies which help him to use proper nurturing methods. Therefore, knowing about the required competencies which would be useful for the predecessor in developing the successor would be important.

Perspectives

This paper addresses a novel topic in the family firms literature based on a case study method that can offer new perspectives to manage the succession process more effectively.
