What is it about?

This study aimed to conduct a detailed investigation regarding the built environment development and find out roles of different actors and contributing factors for enhancing community flood resilience. The study was conducted in a riverside settlement of Bangladesh, where its inhabitants are accommodating themselves in a flood-prone location through partnering with an NGO and modifying their built environment.

This research, through exploring the nuanced relationship between built environment development and community resilience, will contribute to address uncertainties associated with community capacities to respond to risks

Perspectives

In is based on a development project, where the “development” was purposeful in the sense that its goal directly improved people’s lives and its multiple components were carried out by multiple actors who have this as their principal goal. The process of enhancing community flood resilience which can be idealized as a replicable example.
