What is it about?

Scientists, technicians and governments are constantly looking for ways to predict, prevent and protect against catastrophic physical events such as urban flooding. These efforts will remain limited if the inherent capacities of people to cope with threats, take responsibility for their actions and take meaningful local action when necessary are not taken into account. This study aims to understand the mechanisms that contribute to building people's resilience to urban flooding. It analyses the strategies and attitudes developed by flood-affected households to maintain and rebuild themselves despite the damage they have suffered.
