What is it about?

Cotton is flammable material. We shown that cotton fabric gained flame retardancy properties after treatment with nanosol containing tetraethoxysilane or (3-aminopropyl) triethoxysilane as precursors, (3-glycidyloxypropyl) trimethoxysilane as cross-linking agent and guanidine phosphate monobasic as flame retarding agent. What's more, the synergistic effect of phosphorus-nitrogen-silicon was proved.

Why is it important?

Our findings show that flame retardant cotton fabric with 45. percent of LOI value could be produced by sol-gel process based on synergistic effect of phosphorus-nitrogen-silicon.
