What is it about?
This study looks at how three news websites from the UAE, India, and Japan used images to report on the 2022 Russia-Ukraine war during its first five months. We focused on photos from their websites and analysed 304 images in total. These images often showed Ukrainian soldiers and civilians, mostly adults, with few showing graphic injuries. Most of the pictures were emotional and focused on the victims, not on peace talks or protests.
