Vulnerability to COVID-19 unemployment in the Portuguese tourism and hospitality industry

What is it about?

The COVID-19 pandemic is having an unprecedent impact in the tourism and hospitality industry, particularly by causing a significant and unequal increase in job losses. By examining an extensive micro dataset of personal and job-related attributes on all unemployed individuals within the industry in Portugal, we identify which specific characteristics make workers more vulnerable or more immune to unemployment during the COVID-19 crisis.
