What is it about?
Portland cement production involves high energy consumption and pollutes the environment. Therefore, partially replacing cement with agricultural waste bio-chars can slow down these negative environmental impacts. Bio-chars accelerate setting, but reduce strength and water resistance. We show that under optimum conditions some agricultural wastes can be used to replace Portland cement; however, there are certain properties that make some bio-chars better suited for partial cement replacement.
