Influence of curvature distribution smoothing on the reduction of aerofoil self-noise

What is it about?

Smooth curvature distributions shows noticeable reduction in the aerofoil self-noise. For the first time we present the flow structure and boundary layer characteristics that resulted in this self-noise reduction phenomenon, to unveil the aerodynamic mechanisms leading to improved performance yielded by a smooth curvature distribution.
