Why is it important?

The subject benchmark is important as it establishes the expectations of those learners graduating with degrees in policing and as a result, the paper sets out the journey of those involved in writing the benchmark statement which may inform other such projects.

Perspectives

The publication of the benchmark statement for policing was a significant step forward for the development of an academic discipline, as such this paper adds to the evidence of the journey to achieve this.
