What is it about?
Photo stories - small booklets that tell a dramatic story through photos and captions - can enhance health education for disadvantaged groups. In an experiment involving 174 South African marginalised teenagers, a photo story about teenage pregnancy outperformed a traditional brochure and a control condition in terms of self-efficacy, attitudes, and intentions to seek support. Participants also clearly preferred the photo story, especially girls. The findings suggest that well-designed photo stories can be valuable tools for promoting positive attitudes and health behaviours.
