What is it about?
This study explores how teachers’ wellbeing is influenced by different layers of the school system - from classroom relationships to national education policies. Drawing on interviews with Irish primary school teachers, it identifies key factors that support or hinder wellbeing, including leadership style, staff collaboration, workload, and autonomy. When teachers feel connected, competent, and in control, their wellbeing improves, and this benefits students too. The research shows that teacher wellbeing isn’t just personal; it’s shaped by the entire school environment. The findings offer practical strategies for schools and policymakers to create healthier, more supportive workplaces for educators and, in turn, their pupils.
