What is it about?
This paper empirically analyzes the efficiency of Islamic banks in Pakistan. It utilizes Data Envelopment Analysis for the latest data set. Most of the previous studies investigated and compare the performance of Islamic and conventional banks. Contrary, This study provide clear picture of efficiency performance of two types of Islamic banks like full-fledged Islamic banks, Islamic branches of conventional as well as conventional banks.

Why is it important?
Our findings indicates that overall, full-fledged Islamic banks are less efficient in terms of total technical efficiency and pure technical efficiency than conventional banks. However, Islamic branches of conventional banks are highly scale-efficient than their counterparts. Thus, this study provides clear picture as compared to the previous studies.
