What is it about?
Using Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT) as a framework, this study reports on some of the key factors that significantly impact the behavioral intention of academic librarians in Pakistani universities to adopt and use AI tools.

Why is it important?
Using the self-designed construct, service quality, we have examined its importance to library staff when they consider the potential benefits of AI tools on library service delivery.
Perspectives
Service quality has not really been fully explored in relation to the adoption of AI tools. Our research highlights not only the importance of the upskilling of staff but also the contribution of appropriate AI guidelines and policy documents.
