What is it about?
Engaging teachers in collaborative opportunities to participate in disciplinary work has long been recommended as professional development for teachers of mathematics and writing. This analysis brings that idea into literary reasoning, finding that collaborative engagement in literary reasoning can support preservice teachers to expand their understanding of ELA as a discipline, identify and use discipline-specific literacy practices as a focal point in their planning, and inform their thinking about text selection and text complexity.
