What is it about?

This paper shows who engages in informal work? Traditionally, it is thought that most informal workers are from marginalised groups. This paper reveals the need to adopt a more nuanced understanding. Some so-called marginal groups are over-represented and others not. This has implications for tackling the informal economy which sometimes targets deprived localities and the unemployed, both populations where the informal sector is not over-represented
