What is it about?

This study looks at the difference between what employers say they do and what they actually do when it comes to hiring people with disabilities (PwD) in Saudi Arabia. The researchers talked to 24 employers to find out their views and practices on hiring PwD. Even though employers say they believe in including PwD and think it brings new ideas and social responsibility to their companies, their actions often show that they have concerns about costs, accessibility, and the abilities of PwD. The study also found moments when attitudes can change, like education programs, leading by example, changes in culture, correcting misunderstandings, and direct contact with PwD. Using Argyris and Schön's theory of action framework, the study shows how companies can learn to be more inclusive in hiring practices. This research helps us understand employer attitudes in a context that hasn't been studied much before and gives practical ideas for making workplaces more inclusive for people with disabilities.
